Grand Total is £1,100
Kung Fu Schools Hastings had great pleasure in organising a fundraising event to raise money for Demelza Hospice Care for Children, which took place on the 12th May 2018. The event was a great success and the grand total raised was a huge £1,100. The event was held where classes take place at Horntye Park Sports Complex and many friends and families of the students attended to watch students take part in their Kung Fu Challenges. All performed the various challenges with great effort and under constant guidance and encouragement by their instructors; John Tomlin, head instructor, Samantha Hallam, assistant instructor and Robert Granger, training assistant instructor.
“We were all so proud of the students efforts, their families and friends kindness shown by giving so many donations, we were all blown away with the amount raised of £1,100! They worked hard and really pushed themselves all the while thinking about why they were doing it.” Samantha, assistant instructor.
John Tomlin, head instructor said, “Everyone did so well and it was great to see so many people come along to support us. We are all so proud of the work and training that our students had put into this event in the weeks leading up to this day during classes.”

Demelza Hospice Care for Children is celebrating their 20th birthday this year. The charity provides a ‘hospice at home’ service throughout East Sussex for children and young people up to the age of 19. This includes nursing support as well as therapies and respite care for the whole family. By providing this care in the family home, children can get the support they need in an environment where they feel safe and secure.
Demelza is there for families, from diagnosis through to end of life and bereavement services – supporting the children and families throughout each stage. The services provide vital clinical care as well as the emotional support, practical advice and connections that can make a family who is struggling to cope to feel like life is worth living. Their knowledge, skills and experience help parents to feel more confident and in control when caring for their children and themselves.
Julie Brett, Community Fundraiser at Demelza, said, “I’m absolutely thrilled with the support that we’ve received from Kung Fu Schools Hastings. £1,100 is a fantastic sum of money which will enable us to help so many children and their families. We really enjoyed watching the students go through their paces and it was clear that their instructors really cared about the progress of each and every student. I can’t thank them enough for this wonderful fundraising for our charity.”
